•Employment Services offered by the government (Labour Department) – labour departments should provide free and easy employment services for job seekers as it provides comprehensive employments services through job centers, interactive employment service websites or telephone employment services. They may also offer job matching programs to have a more personalized service for the job hunters.
•Newspapers and magazines – the classified ads can provide you necessary vacancy information and recruitment advertisements posted by seeking companies
•Internet – one of the quickest ways to locate job vacancies is only a click away. By typing the keywords on the search engine, you can have the information needed. Also, there recruitment websites that provides vacancy information in both public and private sector

Job seekers should be aware of the current job market situation to be able to set up a target for job hunting. In order to cope with the changing situation, job hunters should have more knowledge about the present requirements in the labour market. You can obtain the latest market information through newspapers, bulletins, and electronic medias like the internet. Always watch the current news as well to know important things about the present situation. Job seekers must also pay attention to recruitment methods and entry requirements as well as prospects for long-term development of several trades and industries. With this, job hunters can equip themselves for the challenges they are going to face ahead.

Double check your Resume!

To avoid mistakes and wrong information about you, do try to double check your resume or CV before sending it out. Double check the grammar, the personal information and make sure that the employer information is also correct to save yourself from embarrassment. If you are preparing a few applications at the same time, better be sure that the letters and resume are placed into the correct envelopes under the appropriate addresses. Employers will surely ask for your certificates so attach copies of certificates in advance. And in case you will be granted with a job interview, keep a copy of the document for reference. And if you have done all these, you are ready to send them out.

Before the Interview

Okay, so let’s say your resume worked and caught some employer’s attention and they called you in for an interview. Here comes the day of the interview, there are some things to remember upon arriving in the office area where the interview will be held. If you have your cell phone or pager with you, remember to turn it off. As you arrive in the lobby of the office, explain the purpose of your visit to the staff or receptionist politely and wait patiently in case the interviewers haven’t arrived yet. Do not wander around and never touch or use the belongings of the company displayed in the waiting area. And of course, do not show some signs of impatience and lack of spirit upon waiting for the interviewer/s.

In looking for a job, you should be sure of your capabilities, potentials and the things you can do that can make you stand out from the rest of other applicants. Always remember that you should make a difference and decide what you think is special about you. What do you think can you offer to your new employer? You may think that being a graduate is enough to qualify but working hard and showing much determination will make you more appealing and competent. Think of your unique business skills and special characteristic you possess. Think about what you can bring and contribute to the company. What of your personal skills can you offer? Making a positive difference can put you in the position you are aiming for.

Being smart in your CV

Go ahead of the job hunting game by writing your CV and application letters with more emphasis on business and formality. Get rid of the typical student writing styles that includes much highlight on hobbies, references, course details and grades of every examination that was taken. Instead, focus on your language, tone and word usage. Write it like you really mean business, be direct to the point yet polite. That way, you will sound smarter and surer of yourself. Try including positive words such as performed, redirected, implemented, developed, solved and supervise. They sound more mature and confident than the words assisted, involved, ambitious and hardworking.

Punctuality Shows Job Integrity

The time we go to the office can tell a lot on whether a person is indeed interested and enjoying his position in the company. Wanting to prove something, being on time and extending hours in the process are factors seen by superiors and management. While you may not get the immediate commendations, rest assured that once your time comes, they will be pretty much significant.

You cannot immediately get promoted to a position but you can wait. Rewards are often forthcoming at the least expected time. So if you are among these early birds, keep it up. You are bound to get noticed or have already been.

Show Confidence in Interviews

Qualifications can carry you towards landing that job but rest assured, company interviewers will make sure that you are worth what you are claiming to be. It is easy to forge whatever expertise you have on your resume and that is why interviewers are pretty much strict and observant when it comes to matching job openings with the available talent.

There are a lot of people who do this. Some even get away with it. Showing confidence normally puts interviewers off track. But while it may be a good ploy, do bear in mind that not all people can be conned into believing what they see.

Get a New Job before Resigning

As far as moving from one job to another is concerned, you just have to get that assurance that you will not resign for nothing. Avoid impulsive decisions such as office spats or disagreements as the main purpose for leaving your current job. If you are not satisfied, look up the job market and see where you can find a new one.

In today’s world, no one can afford to lose a job. So while some people use pride as their main mechanism for decisions, it would be wise to make sure you don’t become empty handed in the end.
